Grant has been throwing big for over 25 years and brings a wealth of knowledge with him to MUDDLE.

In this hands-on workshop participants will be guided through making large forms on the wheel. The workshop will cover multi-piece making and multi-technique making.

Learn how to control large amounts of clay and get Wheely Big with us!

Suits intermediate/experienced potters.

Firings aren’t included. You are welcome to take your raw pots home to fire, or we can fire them at an extra cost.

A special guest to MUDDLE, Grant is a Brisbane-based ceramic artist known for his woodfired stoneware, working with thrown and distorted forms finished in rich ash glazes. His practice is intuitive and spontaneous, favouring a direct, unhurried relationship with clay and fire as opposed to heavy planning or overworking. Grant’s pieces — from platters and bowls to vases and everyday tableware — have been shown nationally and internationally. He approaches ceramics as much as a form of therapy as craft, and brings that same open, hands-on spirit to teaching. Students can expect a relaxed, exploratory approach that encourages students to trust their instincts at the wheel. A second-generation potter, Grant brings a lifetime of experience to his role as a ceramics educator.

Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to attend your booked workshop please notify us as soon as possible via email.

If we are able to find someone to take your place in the workshop you will be refunded 90% of the workshop fee. If we are unable to find someone to take your place in the workshop you will be refunded 50% of the workshop fee.

No refund will be given if you cancel within 7 days of the workshop date.

If you have already attended part of the workshop, no refund is given for the remaining sessions/days.

If the workshop is cancelled by MUDDLE Ceramics Workshop then you will be refunded in full.

We get asked a lot if we offer a firing service, and unfortunately, we don’t. The only place we know of in Hobart that has a kiln hire/firing service is Derwent Ceramics in Moonah.

Our wheels are all in use for our classes, so we’re sorry but we are unable to offer any of our pottery wheels for hire. The same goes for all of our other equipment and tools.
