Introduction to Glazes is for potters & ceramic artists who are at the beginning of their glazing journeys.

This hands-on workshop will cover the fundamentals of glaze making, exploring key glaze ingredients, how these ingredients behave in a glaze composition & why the different components are needed to make the glaze work. Students will be taught how to mix glazes from scratch, choosing 3 recipes from our huge selection, to mix and test with.

The tests will all be fired, and then the group gets together again a week later to discuss the results and ask more questions.

Students will be supplied with all materials and equipment to make glazes, and some tiles for testing glazes.

Students are encouraged to bring some of their own bisqued STONEWARE work to glaze if they would like. Students are required to bring their own safety gear, such as respirators/face masks and enclosed shoes.

WHAT’S INCLUDED:
All materials & firings as well as lunch & refreshments.

Our wheels are all in use for our classes, so we’re sorry but we are unable to offer any of our pottery wheels for hire. The same goes for all of our other equipment and tools.
