Cj Jilek’s ceramic sculptures inhabit the threshold between the natural world and human experience. Rooted in the sensuality of plants, insects, and marine life, her biomorphic forms exaggerate reproductive structures to reveal parallels with human sexuality and desire. These hybrid beings invite both wonder and discomfort, suggesting attraction, adaptation and fragility.

Her current research, supported by the California Arts Council, deepens this inquiry by addressing social injustices for women, LGBTQ+ communities and the environment.
Through teaching and workshops across the U.S. and abroad, Jilek shares this evolving dialogue, blending detail, craft and imagination into a richly symbolic practice.
